Abortion In America–the Neglected Generation

Hey America:

Here’s a bit of verse I wrote, I suppose some will say Amen, and those that vote for murder will be angered. Nonetheless, here it is. I call it, The Neglected Generation:

One out of every three of them are hated by father and mother alike. Their chance of survival, to experience a breath of air, to see a sunrise, or the splendor of the night’s stars, is about thirty percent. They are a people who have few friends who will speak for them or even shed a tear concerning their plight. Rare is a prayer meeting held to their benefit. Numerous preachers would never consider taking up their cause. Many politicians are afraid to fight for their well being, thinking that to do so would make them unpopular, therefore they could lose their chance at a long, lucrative, popular career. For some reason they haven’t related to foreign aid, and their extinction has been some of our president’s most earnest endeavors. In fact, the American Supreme Court ruled them worthy of death. They are butchered in the worst ways. Many of the most newly detected and youngest of these, our American enemies, being yet fourteen weeks of age are attacked with suction machines. The aggressor invades their homes and literally uses a suction device to rip them apart, then suctioning all traces of them away. All that remains is a small pile of fleshy mush which the aggressor can conveniently flush down the toilet in no different manner than if he were flushing his own dung away. Others are attacked with the sword – a loop shaped knife which the aggressor (who happens to be a medical doctor, who, in his or her hypocrisy forgets that he or she was sworn to save life not destroy it) uses to chop the wee one into manageable, extractable pieces. The now lifeless parts being taken from their place of origin to be discarded in perhaps a trash can or a city dumpster. The which, in reality has become a mass grave for the many who are daily slaughtered. It is very rare that one of these innocents would be afforded the decency of a burial, and still less common is a tombstone or even a wooden cross placed over their resting place. For truly it would be thought impossible to build a tombstone over city sewage systems or garbage facilities in our many American cities. For most of thes

Who are these people, these innocents? Who are their aggressors, and where is the place of the continual murder? The innocents are the American unborn children. The murderers are the American public that allows and promotes such destruction to continue. The place of murder is of course what should be the safest of all places, the mother’s womb. Our political system, and many other leaders are chief in promoting the massacre…over forty million legal murders to date. Jesus will come to you, America, as Savior or as destroyer….you make the choice. If you would but humble yourself, cry out to Him, turn from your wickedness and seek good, He would come to you as a healer and a forgiver. If you do not, He will surely destroy you. Come now, Let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red as crimson, they shall be white as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the best of the land; but if you resist you will be devoured by the sword. (Isaiah 1:18-20)

The Problem Of Identity Theft

Identity theft is a problem in today’s society that needs more attention than it is getting. In 2006 alone 15.6 billion dollars were stolen or used in identity theft related cases. Of course monetary figures alone do not give the problem proper justice. The time and stress of the victims trying to recover from their identities being stolen must also be taken into account.

To begin to address the problem I think we must first fully understand what the problem is and how it is occurring. Identity theft is the act of using someone else’s personal information for personal gain of any sort. We can break it down further by classifying identity theft into 3 categories: financial identity theft, criminal identity theft, and identity cloning.

Financial identity theft is what most of us commonly associate as identity theft. It is the use of another person’s personal information to withdraw a loan, withdraw money from the victim’s bank account, or receive items of value. In this type of identity theft the victim is usually unaware of what has taken place until the damage has already been done, and they are left with a large sum of money that is either missing or owed.

In criminal identity theft, a fake ID using the victim’s information is used when the thief is being cited for a ticket. The victim is then left to pay for the ticket and any other repercussion that should never have been put onto him.
Lastly, identity cloning is the act of using a victim’s personal information to “become” the victim. The thief uses the information that he has obtained to assume the victim’s identity to hide his real identity. The thief may do this for a number of reasons such as hiding from the authorities for a crime, for illegal immigration, etc.

Now that we have identified what the problem is, we can try and understand how these thieves are getting their victim’s personal information. A very common and possibly the oldest way of doing so is stealing or dumpster diving for documents that have a person’s personal information written on it. Another common way is to either eavesdrop or look over the shoulder of someone that is punching in their personal information.

With the dawn of the electronic age, new ways of stealing people’s identity have come about. A very common way is through viruses that essentially steal your personal infor
1000
mation and send it back to the hacker that sent it. Another is through “skimming” cards which read and memorize credit cards that are run through it so that they can be used later. A growing concern in identity theft is the obtaining of personal information through social networks like Facebook. This is definitely a problem as many people do not realize how dangerous it is to put their personal information on the internet. The majority of the populace does not realize that once something is on the internet, it’s up for the world to see and use as they see fit.

Advice On How To Avoid Identity Theft

According to the Identity Theft Resource Center, more than 10 million Americans were victims of identity theft between 2003 and 2004. The best way to save yourself from becoming one of these statistics is to learn about identity theft and implement the knowledge you’ve learned about how to avoid identity theft. Here are some useful tips.

Shred All Documents

Not only does shredding your personal documents save room in your garbage, but it can reduce the chances that a dumpster diver will turn you into an identity theft victim. This is one of the basic steps in how to avoid identity theft. All you need is a decent size shredder, which is available at almost any retailer for as little as $20. Shred anything that contains your personal data: bank statements, receipts, unused and canceled checks, any other document that contains your credit card number, social security number, or other personal information.

Be Alert in Your Environment

The easiest, most obvious way to steal your personal information is to actually watch or listen to you enter the numbers at the ATM, checkout line, or on the phone. If someone asked me how to avoid identity theft, I would simply tell them to pay attention to the people hanging out close by. For example, somebody close by could be watching as you enter your PIN at the ATM or may be eavesdropping as you tell someone your credit card information over the phone. Because you never know where an identity thief is lurking, you just can’t afford to let your guard down. No need to be crazy about this. Just keep your eyes peeled for anything suspicious and don’t do anything overly brainless like shouting your credit card number over the phone because the reception is bad.

Stay Vigilant of Your Credit Reports

If you think that you may be a victim of identity theft, make sure to check your credit report a.s.a.p. Every year, you are entitled to receive one free copy of your credit report from all three of the major credit bureaus. You should request these copies and use them to monitor your credit activity. At the first sign of fraud, you should file a report and place a fraud alert on your account. Being proactive is necessary to give yourself the best chance to avoid identity theft.
< 1000
br />
Other Ideas

There are a number of other things you should do to avoid identity theft. For example, you need to make sure you don’t leave your mail in the mailbox for more than one day. If you are going on vacation, you should definitely make arrangements to get your mail picked up everyday. You should also be keeping track of all of your financial accounts to make sure nothing fishy is going on. Finally, you have be smart deciding who, if anyone, should have access to your personal and financial information. Remember that more than 40% of identity theft victims knew their culprit.

Identity Theft: Don’t Become A Victim!

Moments after stepping out of the taxi, Rachel plunged through the entranceway of the hotel lobby eager to put behind what had been a terribly exhausting day. Flight delays due to weather had caused her LAX-MDW-BWI trip to take nearly eleven hours to complete. All she could think of was taking off her shoes to relieve her aching feet and dipping them into soothing, warm bath water.

The line at the front desk was mercifully short. One clerk caught Rachel’s attention and signaled her forward — she gave him her reservation information and then dug out her American Express card for payment. As he stepped away to verify its authenticity Rachel’s eyes surveyed the lobby. “They’ve updated everything since I was last here”, she thought. Her concentration, clouded by fatigue, was now on the mission style tables, chairs, and light fixtures, which had replaced the heavy, wooden furniture previously occupying the lobby. “Here is your card and room key, ma’am,” the clerk interrupted minutes later. Quickly, Rachel stuffed her card back into her wallet, gathered her bags and whisked away to her room.

Rachel was a victim of identity theft that night, but did not know it at the time. Had she kept a watchful eye on what her clerk was doing instead of studying the lobby, she might have noticed him switching cards on her. At the very least, she would have seen that the card handed to her beneath her room key was not her own.

Identity theft is an exploding problem that has increased exponentially in this technological age. Particularly since the early 1990s thieves have been taking advantage of what we would consider every day transactions: writing a check at the grocery store, ordering merchandise via the internet, applying for a credit card, using your cell phone, and more. Each transaction requires you to share personal information: your bank and credit card account numbers; your income, your Social Security Number (SSN); and your name, address, and phone numbers.

An identity thief will lift some piece of your personal information and appropriate it without your knowledge to commit fraud or theft. One of the most common methods is when the identity thief uses your personal information to open a credit card account in your name.

The Federal Trade Commission
1000
is the arm of the federal government tasked with overseeing the problem of identity theft. A special hotline number (1-877-IDTHEFT) was created for consumers to call to place your information in a database which is accessible with other law enforcement agencies and private entities, including any companies about which you may complain. Additionally, an ID Theft Affidavit — a form you can use to alert companies where a new account was opened in your name — can be filled out and given to the company. This affidavit is available online to consumers.

Identity thieves can get your personal information in a number of ways:

* They steal wallets and purse containing your i.d. and credit and bank cards.

* They steal your mail, including your bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit offers, telephone calling cards and tax information.

* They complete a “change of address form” to divert your mail to another location.

* They rummage through your trash, or the trash of businesses, for personal data in a practice known as “dumpster diving.”

* They fraudulently obtain your credit report by posing as a landlord, employer or someone else who may have a legitimate need for — and a legal right to — the information.

* They get your business or personnel records at work.

* They find personal information in your home.

* They use personal information you share on the internet.

* They buy your personal information from “inside” sources. For example, an identity thief may pay a store employee for information about you that appears on an application for goods, services or credit.

Identity thieves will then take the personal information they have obtained about you and use it in a number of different ways:

* They will call your credit card issuer and, pretending to be you, ask to change the mailing address on your credit card account. The imposter then runs up charges on your account. Because your bills are being sent to the new address, it may take some time before you realize that there is a problem.

* They open a new credit card account, using your name, date of birth and SSN. When they sue the credit card and don’t pay the bills, the delinquent account is reported on your credit report.

* They establish phone or wireless service in your name.

* They open a bank account in your name and write bad checks on that account.

* They file for bankruptcy under your name to avoid paying debts they have incurred under your name, or to avoid eviction.

* They counterfeit checks or debits cards, and drain your bank account.

* They buy cars by taking out auto loans in your name.

Fortunately for Rachel, American Express covered her losses. Although she didn’t find out about the theft until she reached her home in California, American Express suspended her account when a number of suspicious charges appeared and she couldn’t be reached by them to verify the charges. Their fraud department left a message on her phone answering machine instructing her to call them and, when she did, Rachel was notified that someone else was using her card. When she explained that she had the card in her possession, she checked her purse and found a card for someone else instead.

Visa, MasterCard and American Express absorb the cost of fraud as long as they are notified by the consumer [certain restrictions may apply — check with your card issuer for specific details]. Had Rachel used a debit card, the story might have been much different. Unlike a credit card, the debit card takes a direct hit on your bank account, meaning that you will have to absorb the loss.

So, all is well with Rachel, right? Sure, American Express overnighted a new card with a new account number for Rachel to use on her next trip, but the problem could very well have continued — and deepened — had she not taken three more ste
1000
ps recommended by the Federal Trade Commission:

First, contact the fraud departments of each of the three major credit bureaus. Tell them that you are a victim of identity theft. Request that a “fraud alert” be placed in your file, as well as a victim’s statement asking that creditors call you before opening any new accounts or changing your existing accounts. This can help prevent an identity thief from opening additional accounts in your name.

At the same time, order copies of your credit reports from the credit bureaus. Credit bureaus must give you a free copy of your report if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, and you make that request in writing. Review your reports carefully to make sure no additional fraudulent accounts have been opened in your name or unauthorized changes made to your existing accounts.

Second, contact the creditors for any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently. Creditors can include credit card companies, phone companies and other utilities, and banks and other lenders.

Third, if possible, file a report with your local police or the police in the community where the identity theft took place. Get a copy of the police report in case the bank, credit card company or others need proof of the crime. Even if the police are unable to catch the thief, the report can be helpful when dealing with creditors.

In summation, identity theft is a problem that is causing businesses and consumers billions of dollars per year. As a result, higher interest rates and an increase in the cost of goods and services is passed on to consumers. So, do not be a victim — protect yourself from identity theft by remaining alert especially when a third party is handling your personal information.

A Coffe Shop-the Perfect Business Part 2

So you have worked at a couple of neighborhood coffee stores, and worked for at least one of the “chains”. You have put a business plan together, and you have even attended some SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) meetings and/or seminars, and now you have found the perfect location.

Before signing your life away, make sure that this location really is good, and that there are no hidden restrictions on advertising or signage. I had one client who opened up a great looking coffee shop opposite a brand new supermarket. However, the township made him take down his sign because it violated some insignificant by-law. His business completely dried-up and he had to close.

Another small, but incredibly important factor, is trash. Who is responsible for its removal, and is the dumpster easily accessible? Find out now, otherwise you may regret it later.

Also find out if you have a monopoly in your shopping area/mall/strip mall/etc. Once again I have a horror story of a small operator who built up a nice trade around an espresso cart situated in a mall. When the mall saw how prosperous the cart was, they leased out a large space to a “chain”, and did not renew the cart operator’s lease.

I’m being negative with all these stories because I want you to succeed, and if you try to foresee (and solve) problems in advance, your energies can be directed towards producing the finest cappuccino in the hood. And please remember that the great American public does NOT drink espresso, they drink multi-hued and flavoured cappuccinos/lattes.

Quick test – how many “c”s are there in cappuccino?

So now you are the proud lessee of an empty building. But is it really empty? Go find a bug and rodent exterminator before doing anything else! AND NOW, before going out and buying equipment you do not need (but it looks so “neat” and “cool”, and the salesman said I would “grow” into it!), decide on your menu. Do not be overly ambitious, and remember that the health and fire inspectors will be watching over your shoulder.

Having decided on your menu, you can now lay-out your store, and start ordering equipment. DO NOT HAVE EQUIPMENT DELIVERED UNTIL YOU ARE READY – it will just get dirty, and may even become damaged. Make sure that
1000
you insure the place from the day you sign the lease. And, if you are fitting out in winter, make sure you have heat so that the pipes don’t freeze and burst. And of course make sure that your place is accessible to the handicapped. Not only is it socially unconscionable not to make it accessible, it is also against the law.

Well now for the big moment… let’s go shopping for an espresso machine. And by the way, I have had clients who have firmly told me that they will need both an espresso machine and a cappuccino machine! Unfortunately my patience usually breaks down at this point.

Do not buy on price alone. Remember the golden points to consider when buying equipment and product:

• PRICE
• QUALITY
• SERVICE

Choose two of the above, and price had better not be one of them. Remember the difference in price between equally featured machines will be less than the cost of a cappuccino per day (when you amortize it over a couple of years).

The first question your friendly neighborhood espresso salesperson should ask is “What size beverages are you going to produce and sell?” The second question is “How many do think you will sell per hour, both in peak times and non-peaktimes?” Those two questions will then determine how big an espresso machine you will require. If anybody tries to sell you anything larger than a two-group machine, move on to the next dealer. Unless you have the espresso concession at Rome’s (as in Rome, Italy’s main railway station), you won’t need anything bigger than a two-group machine.

Try the equipment; check references; and ensure that the equipment seller can properly back up the warranty and has trained service personnel and spare parts. Also, can they lend you a loaner if your equipment needs to be serviced in their shop?

Now what about the coffee? Once again check the references, and taste the coffee (not on your home machine, but from a proper commercial brewer). Nearly all reputable coffee roasters will lend you regular commercial brewing equipment at no cost for as long as you purchase their coffee – but check whether they will give you service for that equipment, and make certain their equipment is reliable. And can your roaster supply all your coffee needs, or must you buy different coffees from different sources? Once again check carefully, and taste, taste, taste.

DON’T FORGET TEA. Remember that 1 in 2 adult red-blooded Americans do NOT drink coffee. Mathematically that approximates to 50%, so do not forget tea (and iced tea for that matter). And of course your flavouring (yes, there is a “U” in flavouring) syrups. Food such as biscotti and muffins are not in my realm of expertise – I only eat them. But use the same criteria for searching out your supplier(s).

Make sure that you have plenty of help and support from loyal and very hardworking spouse(s), relatives and friends, because you will be working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to make the place look good, and to keep it running after it’s open.

And most important, find a buyer after 12 months, because you will need the rest!

Five Steps To Get Rid Clutter And Organize Your Home

A pact, according to Dictionary.com is “a formal agreement…such as one between nations.”

Well, I want you to have A-Pact with your clutter. Although this turns into more of a battle (that you win)…it’s a great way to remember the steps to organization.

Here’s what it means and how it works …

A–>ASK

Ask yourself what you want out of the room or area you’re going to organize. What are the goals of the room? What are you shooting for by getting organized?

And the thing is, you want to dig a little deep into how you want to benefit. This will help you get motivated and work towards the final goal.

For instance, if you’re going to start the process of organizing paperwork in your home office, the question is “why do I want to organize this space?”

The answer could be “I don’t ever want to have a late bill again” or “I want to find any document in less than two minutes.”

Once you’ve answered the question, then move onto step 2…

P—>PILE

What you do in this step is pile “like” items together.

In your closet, you make a pile of all your shirts.

Another pile of all your pants…

Or let’s say we’re in your home office (or wherever you do keep paperwork.)

Start with your file drawer, or grab a pile if that’s what you’ve got for a “filing system.”

Put each piece of paper in “like” files. For example, all the insurance paperwork will go together. All of your 401K paperwork goes in another. All medical expenses from the present year in another.

A—>ANALYZE

Next you go through the piles and break them down even more, this time into two piles of “treasure” or “trash.”

I like to assign each category with treasure or trash so there’s no in between. No room for “I’m going to decide on this later.”

No, decide right there and then if it’s either staying or going.

No in between.

Now the thing is, the trash doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to the garbage.

That step comes next… and remember the saying, one man’s trash (or junk) is another man’s treasure.

next…

C—>CASH-IN

This is where you go through the “trash” and break it d
1000
own once more, deciding what can be donated, what can be sold, and what’s going to the dumpster.

Next step is where you get organized…

T—>TIDY UP!

This is where, once you’ve gotten all the “trash” out of the area, you organize the items you’ve decided to keep.

Tidy up, put it back in an ordered, organized fashion.

When you’re organizing, always keep like items together whether on a shelf, in drawers or in any other type of storage you’re using.

Have items you use more frequently be more accessible and within reach, too.

So there you go…

Have A-PACT with your clutter today, okay?

Why Should I Consider It Asset Recovery?

Because of legislation that impacts the disposal of older, out-dated network and data centre assets, it has become a reason that many executives are asking “why should I consider IT asset recovery?” Since most business organisations don’t have the necessary resources to carry out disposal of this equipment in a reliable and secure manner, they are considering IT asset recovery services. These can make sure that important data is disposed of in a secure manner and your equipment is disposed of in an environmentally correct way.

Most IT assets or computer equipment can pose environmental risks and cause legal liability issues, if not disposed of properly. The responsible recycling of electronic scrap, also known as eScrap, involves dismantling, CRT glass separation, shredding, final sorting, commodity sales and reporting. It is becoming increasingly regulated and more difficult to be in compliance with proper disposal and documentation of out-dated IT assets.

Many companies are hiring IT asset recovery companies to handle all of the red-tape issues involved, when updating their computer networks, transferring important data and disposing of the old equipment. These companies can handle the vertical integration of disposal from pickup through recycling and control the chain of custody to help reduce liability risks.

Information needs to go through asset recovery logistics, tracking, test and audit, data erasure and destruction, as part of the IT asset recovery, to manage the retired assets efficiently and securely. It takes a wide range of services in IT asset recovery to ensure that you are in compliance and the data contained on the old equipment is secured and erased for security reasons.

Even if some of the old IT asset equipment can be resold, you still need to be assured that your confidential data cannot be retrieved, especially in the case where you have business transactions that contain confidential or financial information.

Eliminating old and out-dated network equipment is more complicated than just throwing it in a dumpster or deleting files and worksheets. Because the data is burned onto the hard drive of computers, it is possible for a person to retrieve data that you thought had been deleted.

Some hard drives make a b
1000
ackup copy of data, even when the drive has been wiped clean and reformatted. That is how law enforcement is able to retrieve previously deleted information on criminal computers.

IT asset recovery companies know how to safely dispose or transfer the data and are subject to stringent laws on compliance for data erasure and correct disposal or recycling of the equipment. The best and most cost efficient way for most businesses is to hire the services of an IT asset recovery company, when upgrading their system, or disposing of outdated network assets.

Because the legal ramifications on compromised data can be extreme and compliance on environmental regulations carry stiff penalties, the most assured and competent way to dispose of IT assets is through a reputable IT asset recovery firm. They will handle all of the necessary tracking to be sure you are in compliance and that you can rest assured that your confidential information is kept secure.
